News Tribune's website now sucks

The Duluth News Tribune changed their website this week, including making people log in to read stuff, and they've made it harder to navigate and FIND stuff. Trying to find the high school football scores sucked, requiring a person to look in circles for the football scores, rather than the way it used to be.

While the registration is free, the paper only lets a person go back about 1 week now, and then you have to PAY $2.99 to read an article.

I just had to randomly bitch about that for now :)

Boredom makes a person play video games

The last 2 afternoon I've been bored, I actually played an old X-box Madden NFL football game(04) and today I actually put SIM GOLF into the computer and played that for 2 hours. I want to get Civ IV for the computer, but right now it's priced at $50 so I have to wait a few weeks. The CIV series has been lots of fun from the very first version.

Tonight is about watching the Twins play Chicago, and watching WWE Smackdown on tv. This is one of the last episodes of Smackdown I'll see until the college hockey season is over, since most Friday nights are spent watching hockey :).

The baseball playoffs start Tuesday so hopefully the boredom is gone at that point as well.

Car cleaning; fishing season about done; Crazy Bitch

This time of year is always a good time for my car. This is the time when I decide the summer fishing season has come to an end and it's time to clean the car for one of two times each year. I did the whole bit again, Armor-All wipes and washing windows inside. Without Windex wipes and Armor-All wipes, I'm not sure I would have ever started cleaning the car. They take all the work out of the job, you just wipe the surfaces down and you're done, rather than spraying the stuff the old way then wiping it, then having to wash the windows again cause you got Armor-All on the glass. There's no leather surfaces in the car but plenty of soft vinyl.

The fabric seat on the drivers side, one side a seam has split, so I have to find someone to repair that soon before it decides to do more. The Sunfire turned 70,000 this summer.. so I've put on almost 30k miles in 4 years and a few months. A lot of that was enhanced by driving back and forth to Duluth 5+ days a week to work for 5 months total (different jobs, different years.)

Ok.. this song is on way too often.. Crazy Bitch plays at least 2 or 3 times a day and it's getting old fast now.

Just a short test post

I'm just posting a quick little post to see if I'm doing something wrong or if the blog is still posting correctly, while saying it's at 0% after I did a small template change. THIS post can be ignored if so desired :)

Stock market, cool weather, etc

I got 10 shares of Pepsi stock a while back when I finally finished my 2 year college degree and I've become addicted again to going to the NYSE website and looking at the stock. If I had a 'nest egg,' I know for sure that I'd be a kind of person to (as they say) 'play the market.' To me it's sort of the same as watching athletes statistics when you watch games during the season. The only difference is this can actually involve your own pocket, unless you like to bet on sports, which I don't. In the past 2 days pepsi stock has jumped almost $2.00/share. It must be all the Mountain Dew Livewire I drink, or the Ripples chips, or the Doritos now and then.

On another website, there's a conversation about doctor's, pills, and people getting sick. I for one haven't been sick in more time than I can remember, and haven't had a medical prescription since like 4th grade pennicilin(sp) for strep throat.

The weather is definitely fall-like, cool and a little breezey but nothing wrong with that. The sun's shining so a person really can't complain. It will be SNOWING in a month or so, so complaining might make it snow sooner.

ECW on SCI FI

The ECW on Sci-Fi channel tonight was their best show they've done since starting up on Sci Fi. Hardcore Holly vs RVD was a kick ass match even with the 12 inch long gash Holly got in his back from the table. The 15 minutes working AFTER that were really good action, taking me back to the old ECW days.

The Big Show/Sandman match also was good, considering Sandman isn't the best wrestler, but when weapons and ECW hardcore is the match, he has a kick ass style. I missed the first 10 minutes or so while flipping back and forth to the Twins game. BTW the Twins will probably have to win out to win the division but that doesn't matter THAT much since they'll play the Yankees, who they played well against this year, as wild card.

Check this page out.. Adult Friend Finder is a kickass website, free to join, and with some really funny profiles to look at. It's not so much as a pickup type website as funny stuff.

Almost time for summer fishing season to end (meaning time to clean out the car also), it's getting to be too windy and probably time to not fish until the water turns solid as someone says (aka Ice Fishing.) I've never tried it but I might this year with some people from My FIshing Pals website.

College hockey withdrawl finally ending

The season starts Saturday, finally. UMD Women playing the Minnnesota Whitecaps in an exhibition game and the Men start a week later against Lakehead University from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Summer is great, with fishing and warm weather, but nothing can compete with hockey season starting as the best time of the year. (Opening fishing week is close......)

Not all Mondays suck (though many do)

Trying this post in bold. I like the text color and the white bold was too bright the other dayToday's Monday.. so far it's not a normal Monday since it doesn't seem to suck as much as other Mondays. Then again I still have to go to the post office and ship 1 beanie baby that's been paid for. I have more to ship but they have to be paid for still, plus I have more to list tonight and a couple other nights this week.

Watching the TNA Wrestling ppv last night was different. I rarely watch TNA Impact (their Spike tv show) and watching the PPV was weird. I didn't recognize about 1/4 of the wrestlers, but some I knew of course. The worst thing with TNA I believe is that Jeff Jarrett is still their champion. He's old and seems to play the kind of game that HHH (Paul Levesque) has been accused of for years in the WWE/WWF, and holding guys back for his own spotlight. Jeff Jarrett was old and boring back in his WCW days, sticking to the same old gimmick of hitting people over the head with a fake guitar.. wtf!

This is nuts, there's an area code in Houston Texas of 281, and the area code here in Northern Minnesota is 218. In Houston they also have the prefix 879 like here, and we're getting a ton of calls meant to be to a photography company in Houston because either the people dialing are transposing the number 281 into 218, or the company fucked up their business cards. Whichever it is, it's annoying as hell. I've googled and reverse lookup'd the other number and it's not found so the next step soon will be to call te idiots and tell them we're sick of getting their calls. I'm glad I don't have a land line MYSELF, and it's only my Aunt's phoneline, but it's still annoying.

Mythbusters

I decided while watching it tonight to make an entry about this show. It's a great show on discovery channel. While there's other good shows, this one outranks most to me. It's midnight and a 2 hour episode about movie myths is on.

I've seen them test some myths I'd wonder about (shooting guns in water for one), but one that was on an hour ago was whether or not buttered toast lands buter side up or down. It's all funny so you can't help but like the show, whether the tests seem like something that seems obviously plausable or not.

As the title of this blog states, this is definitely a RANDOM THOUGHT ;)

Vikings Offense is becoming offensive.

The Vikings offense is becoming pathetic. They have a great defense but can't figure out how to play offense. They don't hold the ball, keep possession, and thus wear their defense out because they spend too much time on the field. Brad Johnson is still good enough to carry the team, but they have to let Mewelde Moore run the ball more than Chester Taylor. Taylor doesn't get enough yards and gets stopped behind the line of scrimmage too often to give the offense short yardage.

The only thing I really noticed Brad Johnson do bad was his last play of the game.. 4th and 3 and he goes for a huge play instead of making the first down and moving towards a game tying field goal.

Watching the NWA/TNA wrestling ppv on Paltalk right now, not a bad PPV though I don't regularily watch NWA/TNA since their tv show is only an hour long and they tape 3 shows in one night and show one per week before their PPV.

Black & Blue division

The title says it all, if you're a FOOTBALL fan. Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears is the big matchup today. GO VIKINGS! Playing in the Dome I think the Vikings will pull off a win, but they need to make the offense roll more while playing the same tight defense they have the first 2 weeks of the season.

Packers play Detroit and I don't expect them to pick up a win in Detroit. I just hope that by the time the Vikings play Green Bay, that the Packers have won a game, I (or any other Vikings fan) dont' want their first chance at a win to come against the Purple.
