Hockey, and other stuff

Spent nearly 6 hours watching hockey tonight, between the UMD men's and women's hockey games, and gonna spend another 2 and half hour or so tomorrow again. Both teams won today/tonight so, GO DOGS!

Got home just in time to see the last 20 NASCAR laps...Dale Jr finished 4th and Jeff Gordon's engine quit just before I got home. Kasey Khane won the race in Charlotte.

Nice sunny day today after a couple days of snow and rain :) The temperature wasn't bad at all and the snow's melted.... for now.

More cold windy rainy snowy

The wind's kicked up tonight now and I decided to take a couple pictures in the dark just for the hell of it. Only one turned out but it's a good one for a night time picture with only the camera flash. You can right click the picture and choose 'view image' to see it full sized.

Cold windy "blustery?"

While I'm not someone that uses a bunch of "cool" weather channel type words to describe the weather, I would assume that today is a blustery day to say the least. Dictionary.com defines blustery as "to roar and be tumultuous, as wind" so I guess that's definitely what today and what is forecasted as tomorrow is like. Luckily we never got the 8 inches of snow they had first predicted, and maybe only received half an inch at best(or worst?)

26 Hours from now the UMD men's hockey season starts against U-Mass Lowell so it's that time of year again. The women (see the umd women's blog in my profile) play the North Dakota 'fighting' Sioux Saturday and Sunday afternoon's of course.

The Vikings are off this weekend, and so is Notre Dame so there's not that much good football to watch. Ok.. the Vikings aren't fun to watch right now but still I'd watch at least hte beginning. I'll miss watching the Nascar race while at the women's hockey game but that's what happens during hockey season.

Kerry Rodd returns to Northland radio airwaves!

Kerry Rodd's making his return to the Northland airwaves Friday morning at 6 am with a NEW show on Cloquet's radio station WKLK (AM 1230 and FM 96.5) His no compete clause finally ends and we can hear the best area broadcaster again. There's been funny commercials on the air about the show's coming, but he can't talk on them so it's even funnier.

Today there's a funny commercial talking about a character from Scanlon who was part of the station's past for Friday's show so we'll see what happens Friday morning.

Kerry's also got a Saturday morning show advertised from 7-9 with Tracy Lundeen who he's done plenty of radio with over the years.

8 inches of **SNOW**

The weather forecast is calling for 8 inches of snow here by Thursday sometime. YUCK.. This is the most snow this early I'm sure since the 1991 Halloween snowstorm. That halloween snowstorm is legendary for northern Minnesota. Hopefully it doesn't snow *THAT* much, but it does tend to melt the first snow every year. It's definitely going to feel like hockey season though this weekend with the cold weather.

Literati

I've gotten myself hooked on playing Literati on yahoo again.. mostly play at night when there's nothing else to do. Literati is Yahoo's taken on SCRABBLE, but without a set number of each letter and with a little different board than SCRABBLE ever had. The game is great and last night I re-achieved my 1800 rating :)

A couple new items to promote

THIS blog entry, I just want to promote a couple new things I've found, including a totally FREE email service called breakthrough.com that has an anti spam in-box for you.

Another great site is 'nicecards.com' where you send E-greeting (or online greeting cards) cards. There's always been these sites where you send them to your friends email addresses of course. THIS site only does PG rated cards by the way.

Click on the banners to go to the sites, if you find them interesting, they're free to join of course.

WWE Family Reunion

The Family Reunion show wasn't too bad, especially when they made the main event Undertaker vs John Cena. Obviously they weren't going to FINISH that match and it had the expected run-ins at the end, but still it was the Undertaker on RAW live. They're setting the 'stories' for the Cyber Sunday PPV coming November 5th.

I added a search box to this blog at the bottom of the page, it should be working already since google's already got this blog in it's search engine. I like finding little "toys" online for websites and stuff.

Jr got wrecked, 3 hours of Wrestling tonight

Dale Jr got wrecked with the race almost over when Jimmie Johnson got spun by Brian Vickers, so he basically got ripped off at the end of the race, where he could have made up huge points in the chase for the cup.

WWE Raw Family Reunion is tonight.... "huge" 3 hour show with all the stars from over the years and the 3 "brands." They've been hyping this show for a few weeks now so they better make a great show.

Watched the WWE 'Smackdown' ppv on Paltalk last night. It wasn't that bad.. but I don't normally watch Smackdown since there's always other stuff to do Friday nights. They really didn't accomplish much with that show, at least to me.

I've got a nice page that lists a bunch of pro wrestling websites. Go here and you can find a bunch of links to pro wrestling news sites.

Don't forget to click on a google ad or two if you like reading my 'Random Thoughts' since the google ads support the blogs (this and my umd women's hockey blog.)

OK, maybe not?

Soon as I mention the VIkings playing like crap, they come back and score 2 quick touchdowns. It reminds me of the Notre Dame game that I posted about a couple weeks ago when they made a huge comeback. They just kicked a field goal to lead 19-17 but there's close to 3 minutes left and Detroit has the ball.

Thank god there's NASCAR, cause the VIKINGS SUCK!

The Vikings yet again, have no offense and after 3 quarters are losing 17-3. NOW I've finally turned the channel to watch ONLY the NASCAR race. Talladega is a great track that's been repaved and is even faster than ever. Dale JR's right up front with Kyle Busch leading the race back and forth now.

I'm sure I'll check the football score again before the 4th quarter ends, but I'll mostly stick to NASCAR today :) Good thing the VIkings are off next week, maybe they can figure out how to move the ball.
