Sniper Ghost Warrior

Picked up copy of Sniper Ghost Warrior from the $19.96 shelf at Wal-Mart.. I have the PC version of wanted to play the game on a wide HD screen so here goes!  Finished Bodycount and Mass Effect 2 recently, so I’ll need to get Mass Effect 3 in a couple weeks, just waiting for game updates before buying so any bugs may be worked out.

I also got a copy of MLB 2k12 as mentioned couple weeks ago and am having decent success in the ‘My Player’ mode, though the Twins team really sucks on the game.  I created a center fielder wearing #34, as Kirby Puckett except mine’s 6’3 220 lbs.  Really like the My Player mode, but would like to be able to actually see more of a game in that mode rather than just at bats and cuts immediately to a fielding play.

I think an NHL game with a My Player would be fun, you actually go the bench for line changes and see the game FROM the bench when your shifts are up.  Now, off to shoot some digital enemies in the skull Winking smile

MLB 2k12

Since it’s another cold/wet weekend in Minnesota, I finally went and picked up Major League Baseball 2k12 to give myself a little break from NBA 2k12 and Mass Effect 2.  So far so good in the ‘My Player’ mode on MLB 2k12, seems more fun and not discouraging as NBA game is at times.  Go TWINS!

NBA2k12 Update

So, I’m 40+ games into an NBA2k12 My Player season with a 6’8 Shooting Guard.. all of a sudden every 5’10-6’1 guard is blocking my layups and stealing the ball.. and shots not blocked roll off the rim like there is plexi-glass over the rim.. was averaging 30 points per game for 15 games and got an Eastern Conference player of the week.. since then all the above strange stuff has been going on.. One other strange thing is all of a sudden every rebound attempt is now an ‘over the back’ foul and the only way I can get a steal anymore is have my back turned and the ball hit my ‘My Player’ character.

Right after I posted that I was boxed out .. at the 3 point line.. with my 6'8 player.. by Earl Boykins.. WTF!

Mass Effect 2

I may be a little behind, but I just bought Mass Effect 2 (X-Box) from the $19.99 bin at Walmart today.. after finishing Fable 3 and Bodycount I needed a new game to play opposite of NBA 2k12 that I’m still playing and will play my ‘My Player’ for a couple seasons worth of games to see it progress.

Tiger Woods

How Tiger Woods can go from the Tiger everyone remembers, dominating a course, to throwing and kicking a club and not having any idea where the ball is going to end up is weird.  I was joking on my Twitter, but it’s almost like he needs stress relievers, like the girlfriends he had when he was married, to take the stress of golf away.  I’m still only joking, and wouldn’t condone cheating on a spouse of course.

Wrestlemania

This year’s Wrestlemania was pretty good, the build-up to ‘The Rock’ and John Cena match that took a year to get to could have amounted to a better match, BUT they did have to cover the best match I’ve seen in forever with HHH and Undertaker’s ‘End of an Era’ match.. in which both probably wrestled their final matches ever.  John Cena talked ‘Rocky’ through most of the match, made obvious on TV, and The Rock sweat so much I wondered what kind of shape the guy was actually in.  Obviously John Cena could call the shots and pull a power-trip and win any and all matches he’s in if he really wanted to, being THE headliner for the WWE for years now.

Spring is here!

Besides spring starting 8 days ago.. the REAL official first day of Spring, at least here in Cloquet came on Tuesday the 27th.. Gordy’s Hi-Hat opened for the season!  Double Bacon Cheeseburgers, Onion Rings, Fries, or a great fish sandwich which is 4 large pieces of fish.. yum.. that’s enough without the sides sometimes

NBA2k12

Finally picked up a copy of NBA2k12 last month and been playing it on XBOX 360 whenever possible.. the game has some great qualities and some not so great ones.  In creating a ‘My Player’ and playing the season.. some of it is a major joke..

You’re in a close game and your computer controlled teammates act like they couldn’t give a damn about the game.. 4 points down 30 seconds and they run the shot clock to nothing and run out the entire game.

Another is the My Player AI-Teammates defense.. or lack there of.. you are assigned someone to guard, with blue arrows.. yet that jumps around and changes so much during a possession .. your teammates switching on defense over and over without any warning to you and it costing you ‘teammate grades’ and ‘skill points’..

I haven’t played just regular season games, but the opponent teams hit so many 3-pointers that they’d be shooting at 80% for a season if they did what they do against your ‘My Player’ team.. incredibly inaccurate also that point guards who are 6 foot tall block 6 foot 8 or taller players shots over and over on layups.

Thus concludes a random thought.. or thoughts..

Blog Returning

It’s been well over 2 years since I posted on this blog of ‘Random Thoughts’ but I’ve still had lots of those Random Thoughts, they just end up on Twitter in under 140 characters most of the time

Hoping to actually start posting on this blog again and get it back to being an active blog.

OOOOOOOPS

Having not posted anything on this blog since the Twins got Orlando Cabrera, now with another tie-breaker game on tap tomorrow .. I figured I might as well post that I expect the Twins to beat Detroit 6-3 and have to play the Yankees in the first round of the playoffs in a best of 5 series. That means the Twins MUST win one of 2 in New York to have any shot at beating the Yankees, but I'll try to not think of that until they beat Detroit.

Twins Trade For Orlando Cabrera!

In a sign of the new management.. hopefully.. the Minnesota Twins traded for and received Orlando Cabrera from the Oakland A's! He's a much better career hitter than Nick Punto and hopefully can help them produce from the number two spot in the batting order, where Alexi Casilla has failed all season. Nick Punto can still get plenty of games because of his defense, where he can spell Casilla and Crede and Cabrera so he's worth keeping around.

The one thing the Twins need to do is dump Mike Redmond! Jose Morales has been up with the Twins on numerous occasions and proven he can hit major league pitching! He hit .343 in 67 at bats with the Twins, in 32 games this season... where Redmond hit all of .242 in 33 games. Besides that, Morales is a younger player who can spell Joe Mauer and an play better defense as a better athlete than Redmond.

Go Twins!

Wendy's Boneless Chicken

I stopped by Wendy's today to check out the boneless chicken they have advertised on TV lately.. .. I had the honey BBQ version and the sauce was great.. but the chicken was tough and not tender at all.. I'll still try the spicy asian ones to see if that might be better but I think the chicken will still be the same, kind of tough pieces of chicken.

You get a decent portion but it's not tender like it should be!

Big Brother Seson 11

I've been watching BB11 this year for a the last 2 weeks now.. and this group being put in 'cliques' might be ok.. but they have some casting problems with bringing back Jessie, from BB10 and immediately putting him in a place of power as the starting 'HoH.' He thinks he knows it all because he's been in the 'house' before and uses that to make himself seem smarter than he really is.. when really he only made it 4 weeks last year so he knows nothing.. in my opinion.

Al Franken Finally Wins Senate Seat

Whether you like him or hate him.. or could care less.. I'm glad that we Minnesotans finally have 2 Senators in Washington D.C. again.. The b.s. was going on way too long with Coleman trying to take what the courts weren't giving him.

Business Equals Lack of Random Thoughts

Lately, I haven't posted anything on this blog.. though really.. I wouldn't call it lately, since I haven't posted anything on it since... January!

A few completely random thoughts in the last few months...

Dale Earnhardt Jr. really needed a new start and hopefully he's gotten it with his new crew chief.. you can't expect him to immediately start winning.. but it's a huge deal with Lance McGrew taking over for Tony Eury Jr. McGrew probably has the toughest job in Nascar right now, other than those who need to replace moneys lost with GM pulling a bunch of sponsorship money.
--

Been taking lots of walks and posting photos, which are updated on one of my other blogs and posted on my website. Besides Cloquet (and some Duluth) area sports, I've posted Pro Wrestling galleries from Echo Pro Wrestling in Sartell, Minnesota, and lots of outdoor photos from walks.
--

The new Ice Road Truckers season started 3 weeks ago and each week they tease more and more that one of the drivers gets into a bad accident.. I don't know if it's just for ratings ploys or not, but so far there are lots of other trucks in the ditch on this new show focusing on the Dalton Ice Road in Alaska.
--

The Deadliest Catch season has actually been good so far, though it seems the show is lacking some of the drama of last season's medical emergencies until last week's accident trying to put up a tarp on the Wizard, with the episode ending in the hospital.

On the same subject.. Mike Rowe isn't hosting 'After the Catch' anymore, being replaced by Ben Bailey who hosts Cash Cab on Discovery. I think Cash Cab is a joke and can't stand Bailey on it so I don't know that he can make After the Catch the show it's been before. Ratings of 'ATC' will of course be the sign if he's successful.
--

The Minnesota Twins bullpen is lame... they used to be a shut-down bullpen that kept hte team in leads.. but this year the only really consistent pitcher from the 'pen' is Joe Nathan. The starters haven't been *that* bad and have given the bullpen leads that they've lost on many ocassions leading to a medicocre .500 season so far.

That's plenty of thoughts for now.. even though the Minnesota Wild, and Timberwolves, have both got new GM's who hopefully can turn their seasons around. I'll deal with those thoughts at a later time.

Finally, NBA 2K9 on the PC

In the beginning of this year, I sold my old X-box and haven't replaced it with a newer video game system because I have a computer able to play the best games..

EA (Electronic Arts) decided to get OUT of the PC Sports game world because of video game pirates copying games...

2K Sports has finally come out with their NBA 2k9 and so far it's a great game.. I only bought it today.. but I don't have a single complaint about it yet.. the crowd noise is great.. the players look ultra-realistic and have gotten better every year..and the controls aren't bad either!

The best part of the game is Kevin Harlin. I don't know which year they added him but I've been a huge fan of him since he started working for the Timberwolves in their inaugural season. The call I remember most is Tom Gugliotta making a play, and Harlin yelling 'Great Googily Moogily!' I know my opinion doesn't count for *THAT* much, and I don't post my opinions (and random thoughts) as much as I really would like to.. but Harlin's one of the BEST NBA play by play guys.. even better than Marv 'Cross Dresser' Albert!

This My Name is Earl & The Office Sandwich Tastes Terrible

NBC is forcing Molly Shannon down our throats!! She's nasty 'fugly,' and her comedy isn't very good either... so they put her new sitcom between the two GOOD Thursday night sitcoms, My Name is Earl and The Office....This show Kath & Kim is terrible at best, even with decent looking Selma Blair.
